Provenance study of oyster shells by LA-ICP-MS

چکیده

Provenance determination of archaeological remains is a valuable tool for reconstruction past exchange networks. Among these materials, oyster shells are ubiquitous in sites from all prehistorical and historical periods. Thus, they seem to be promising candidates provenance identification as include chemical elements the environment their shells, which implies that an elemental fingerprint region origin can recorded shell composition. In this study, we present measurements 15 groups modern 13 continental localities mainland France island Corsica (western Mediterranean Sea). Two had two species (Crassostrea gigas Ostrea edulis). Results indicate (i) species-specific exists (ii) Atlantic Ocean Sea provenances identified O. edulis shells. Moreover, if originated locality only partially connected ocean (e.g. estuary or lagoon), specific watershed also observed, even between originating same bay. Using reference fingerprints, characterize unearthed at Lyons (central France, 200 km away nearest shoreline), dated 1st c. CE.

Metal in Ureilites: Siderophile Elements from La-icp-ms

Introduction: Bulk ureilites have near chondritic abundances of siderophile elements [1-7], showing no correlation with Fe contents (~5-16 wt.%) or mg (molar Mg/[Mg+Fe]). These observations are difficult to reconcile with any igneous model for their silicates [8]. We address this problem through detailed characterization of the metal phases in ureilites [9], and petrologic modelling [10]. Here ...

Critical assessment of the elemental composition of Corning archeological reference glasses by LA-ICP-MS

Corning archeological reference glasses A, B, C, and D have been made to simulate different historic technologies of glass production and are used as standards in historic glass investigations. In this work, nanoseconds (193, 266 nm) and femtosecond (800 nm) laser ablation were used to study the elemental composition of Corning glasses using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectr...

Determination method of multi elements in ferromanganese samples by LA-ICP-MS.

A dilution method using MnO(2) for the manganese nodule standard, JMn1, has been newly adopted to obtain accurate calibration lines. Moreover, an internal standard correction method was applied to correct changes in the sample introduction efficiency for the prime purpose of laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) analysis. Using the dilution method and the cor...

Microanalysis of minerals by an Excimer UV-LA-ICP-MS system

This paper is a performance evaluation of a prototype laser-ablation microanalytical system composed of an UV Excimer laser and a high-sensitivity inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (XLA-ICP-MS). The laser was optimized for trace-element microanalysis of silicate minerals, and the effects of different parameters (laser power, focus, carder gas flow, etc.) on the performance characteri...
